Termini Station
Rome has several railway stations being part of the urban train transportation system, beyond managing traffic to and from the Capital. However, the main central station is "Termini", whose name seems to evoke the meaning of last stop, end of the trip, since it is not a minor transition station. The truth is that it inherited its name from the archeological area in front of it, the Diocletianus Thermae, whose construction was started in 298 b.c. by Emperor Maximianus in honor of Diocletianus who had named him western Augustus. After the end of the Empire, the baths started being used for several purposes, from religious complex to corn stockhouse, until it welcame one of the seats of the National Roman Museum (containing finds dating from the 5th century b.c. to the 3rd century a.c.) and the "Facoltà di Magistero". The convenience in choosing an accomodation, using the powerful web 2.0 ultimate travel search tool prontohotel.com, in the nearby is obvious: you can get out from the train and find yourself in the historical centre of the City, you can walk toward the main archeological attractions or move to the other areas of Rome using buses and trams starting from their terminals or the metropolitan train lines A and B.
